Flannel Fundraising

We recently had a fundraiser at my preschool. In one area we raffled off a few small baskets that the kids could enter with an inexpensive ticket. I used up some odds and ends in my flannel bin and made a few of the kids' favorites. It was fast, simple, inexpensive, and a huge hit. Does the joy of flannel know no bounds?

I used some scrap piece of foam board and fun felt for the board.
It was an odd size, but it worked perfectly.
Happy Birthday, Five Little Ducks and Little Mouse....classic.

Superheroes

I don't like the flannel pieces I made for this rhyme, but someone just reminded me that I did it with puppets. I think I tied some scarves on them for capes. I probably made some masks too.

Five Superheroes
By Shawn Wolf

Five superheroes ready to fly,
Here comes a villain. Stop that guy!
This superhero can save the day.
Off he flies—up, up and away!

(Use Sticky Vicky and props) I had to leave this note in because it makes me smile every time I see someone on our staff mention "Sticky Vicky". That's the name of a rhyme I wrote, but now it is the name of the puppet we use for the rhyme. I made some superhero accessories for "Vicky", and this is how she changes her identity...

Ready for Action
By Shawn Wolf

This little girl is a superhero,
but you would never know.

She needs a few accessories.
Let’s help her get her ready to go.

What is missing? What should she wear?
She needs a mask! Let’s put it right there.

What is missing? What should she wear?
She needs a cape! Let’s put it right there.

What is missing? What should she wear?
She needs a letter! Let’s put it right there.
(insignia on chest)

What is missing? What should she wear?
She needs some gadgets! Let’s put them right there.
(tool belt)

What is missing? What does she need?
She needs a vehicle made for speed!
(Bye-bye!)

I also wrote a cut-and-tell story that ends up being a Batman mask. If anyone is interested, I can figure out how to get it onto my blog.
