Flannel Friday: Dog Bones

I created this for my three-year-old preschool class, but I never used it for storytime. I have no idea why. The kids loved it.

Dog Bones
by Shawn Wolf

My new little puppy, (place smallest puppy on board)
Cuddly and fun.
Because he is so little, (place first bowl on board)
He only needs one.

(point to the number 1 on the bowl and put one bone into bowl)

Puppy’s getting bigger,
I can see he grew.
Because he is still growing,
He’s going to need two.

Now look at puppy!
He’s  bigger. Can you see?
Because he’s getting bigger,
I think I’ll give him three.

Puppy just keeps growing,
He’s eating more and more.
Because he is so hungry,
He’s going to want four.

Can you believe my little puppy?
He has grown to full size!
Because  he’s all grown up,
Now we give him five.
