This Week at Storytime: Jingle, Jingle, Boom, Boom!

It was Noisy Storytime this week, so we had even more fun than usual. I try to keep things pretty neutral around the holidays. We usually do a week of "Sweet Treats" storytimes in addition to our "Noisy" week. But I do sprinkle in a little bit of holiday fun.

Sing: Welcome Song
Read: Be Quiet Mike! by Leslie Patricelli
Sing: ABC Song
Play: Letter of the Day on the ipad--J is for Jingle! I used Drawnimal and LetterSchool
Read: Tanka Tanka Skunk! by Steve Webb (Talk about phonological awareness! Must use a drum while reading.)
Rhyme: Eight Little Reindeer (make felt pieces or use the kids as reindeer)
Rhyme: Rudolph, Rudolph flannel (help Rudolph find the right color nose)
Read: Jingle-Jingle by Nicola Smee
Sing: Little Jingle Mouse (from 101 Rhythm Instrument Activities for Young Children
By Abigail Flesch Connors. I sing it with puppets!)

Rhyme: Where are the Jingle Bells? (A "Little Mouse" game for the holidays)
Sing: Jingle Bells (everyone gets some bells)
Dance: Jingle Hop by Mr. Billy (A rockin' fun song free online!)

We do a craft after preschool storytime. Today we made simple jingle bell bracelets with pipe cleaners, jingle bells, beads, straw pieces, buttons, and colored pasta.
